Beibu Gulf Port welcomes largest-ever container ship since its opening
The Beibu Gulf Port in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has welcomed the largest-ever cargo ship since its opening as the 200,000-tonne-class vessel docked at the automated terminal of the Qinzhou Port on Sunday.
Besides the Qinzhou Port, the Beibu Gulf Port also include two other individual ports in the coastal cities of Beihai and Fangchenggang in Guangxi.
The 399.8-meter-long ship began loading and unloading operations shortly after docking.
As the core hub for container business in the Beibu Gulf, the Qinzhou Port has expanded its capacity this year, with six new open berths added for international shipping.
In the first three quarters of this year, the port’s foreign trade container throughput reached 874,000 TEUs, marking a 28.4 percent year-on-year increase.
