 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Signs Service Contract for Garabogazkarbamid Plant

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (MHI-AP), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., has signed a three-year service contract with the State Concern Turkmenhimiya, the operator of Turkmenistan’s largest fertilizer plant, Garabogazkarbamid. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced this in a press release on Thursday, July 17.

MHI-AP is the aftermarket service center for chemical plants serviced by MHI Group worldwide. Under this contract, MHI-AP will supply spare parts for critical rotating equipment such as gas turbine generators, heavy-duty compressors and pumps manufactured by MHI Group companies, as well as other spare parts and consumables. The services will be provided in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation.

“Cooperation and strategic partnerships with industry players such as Turkmenhimiya are important to meet the changing needs of customers across sectors,” Takehiko Kikuchi, MHI Regional Director for Asia Pacific and India said. “We remain committed to providing high-quality after-sales service that will ensure smooth operations for our customers.”

This initiative reflects MHI Group’s broader strategy to support customers throughout the entire project lifecycle, from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project execution to plant operation. Through this project, MHI Group will ensure the stable and reliable operation of this plant, contributing to its goal of delivering highly reliable plants worldwide.

Garabogazkarbamid in the city of Garabogaz, Balkan province, is the largest carbamide plant in Central Asia. It was built by Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation and the Turkish contractor Gap İnşaat. Its design capacity is 1,155 thousand tons per year.

The licensor of the ammonia production technology is Haldor Topsoe (Denmark), for the production of carbamide – Saipem (Italy) and for the granulation of carbamide – Uhde Fertilizers Technologies (Netherlands).
