On the afternoon of 28 November 2025, a meeting was held at the Quirinal Palace between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Italian Republic, T. Komekov, and the Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Italian Republic, Fabio Cassese.
During the meeting, parties discussed the development of cooperation in areas where agreements had been reached between the leaders of the two countries during the official visit of the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan to Italy in October of this year. They also reviewed further steps aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation within international organizations and deepening relations in political-diplomatic, scientific-cultural, and trade-economic fields in 2026.
Special emphasis was placed on Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality, recognized by the UN General Assembly resolution, which contributes to strengthening peace and stability in the region and throughout Eurasia.
Fabio Cassese, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Italian Republic, conveyed on behalf of the President of Italy greetings and high respect to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and to the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He also extended best wishes for the successful and high-level organization of the International Forum that will be held on 12 December 2025 in Ashgabat, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to maintain active dialogue in order to further develop and deepen bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Italian Republic and exchanged best wishes.
