National teams of Turkmenistan, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Mexico and Luxembourg gathered in the capital of Kyrgyzstan to participate in the World Hockey Championship in the third division of Group A. The Kyrgyz Ice Hockey Federation reports this.

Turkmen athletes won 19 gold, 9 silver and 6 bronze medals at the International Taekwondo Tournament (ITF) that ended in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

On February 24, regional competitions in mixed martial arts and MMA were held in the city of Kharkov, Ukraine. The first place at the championship among athletes from 19 to 40 years old in the 93 kg weight category was won by a student of the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, a citizen of Turkmenistan, Babageldi Khalimov. He spoke about the project of organizing the international equestrian marathon “Uly dala zhorygy” (Great Field March) in connection with the upcoming World Nomad Games in Kazakhstan. The length of the marathon, in which at least 15 teams from different countries will take part is 500 kilometers.

The first league of the Turkmenistan chess championship ended on February 26 - an ordinary soldier of military unit No. 2112 of the State Border Service Allayar Shirliev (FIDE/Elo rating - 2111) won one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year. He scored 9 points out of 11 possible.
