The CPC Central Committee discusses China's economic priorities with non-CPC representatives for the second half of 2026

On July 24, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a meeting in Beijing with representatives of non-CPC groups to hear their views and proposals on the country's current economic situation and economic priorities for the second half of 2026. The meeting was chaired by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting was attended by members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, including Li Qiang, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, and Ding Xuexiang. Entrusted by the CPC Central Committee, Premier Li Qiang briefed participants on the country's economic performance in the first half of the year and outlined key policy measures for the months ahead.
Representatives of the eight non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and non-affiliated public figures offered recommendations on fostering new growth drivers, promoting the integration of innovation and industry, ensuring stable employment, encouraging investment, and advancing high-standard opening-up.
In his concluding remarks, Xi Jinping said that since the beginning of the year, authorities across the country had responded proactively to both domestic and external challenges, helping maintain stable economic performance while promoting innovation-driven and higher-quality development. He noted that despite existing pressures, the Chinese economy has demonstrated strong resilience and emphasized the importance of strengthening confidence, overcoming challenges together, and maintaining steady, long-term, high-quality growth.
Consultations with non-CPC representatives are an important part of China's system of political consultation, providing a platform for gathering opinions from various political parties, business organizations, and independent public figures before major policy decisions are made.
