Structural reorganizations have been carried out at the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan – some institutes have been merged, while some others have been transferred under the authority of specialized universities. President Berdimuhamedov approved necessary decisions at the government session.
Thus, the Institute of Language and Literature named after Makhtumkuli and the National Institute of Manuscripts are merged to set up a new Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Makhtumkuli. The Institute of History and the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography are also merged to establish a new Institute of History and Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
At the same time, the Solar Energy Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is transferred under the authority of the Turkmen State Power Engineering Institute, one of departments of which deals with study and development of renewable energy sources.
In addition, the Turkmen Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will be under the authority of the Turkmen Agricultural University. The Institute of Biology and Medicinal Plants is divided into two scientific organizations: the Institute of General and Applied Biology, which will be part of the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, and the Institute of Medical Plants that will be under Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.
