Head of the CIS Observer Mission, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Leonid Anfimov made a statement for journalists of the Turkmen and foreign media. The event was also attended by members of the Council of Coordinators: Bakhsheish Askerov - member of the CEC of Azerbaijan, Nurlan Koychukeev - deputy chairman of the CEC of Kyrgyzstan, Anton Lopatin - member of the CEC of the Russian Federation, Zainiddin Nizamkhojaev - chairman of the CEC of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Poletaev - first deputy chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on constitutional legislation and state building, Asylbek Smagulov - member of the CEC of Kazakhstan, Kazbek Taysaev - first deputy chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Meeting of the Russian Federation on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, Bakhtiyor Khudoyerzoda - Chairman of the CEC of Tajikistan.
Head of the CIS Observer Mission Leonid Anfimov noted that the presidential elections in Turkmenistan were held in accordance with the electoral legislation in force in the country, were held at a high organizational level, were free, open, and competitive, and corresponded to the generally recognized principles of holding democratic elections.
“Members of the Mission were present during the counting of votes and note that this procedure was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the legislation in force in the country. CIS observers did not record violations that could have an impact on the election results,” Leonid Anfimov said.
