Turkmen specialists to discuss interaction "water-energy-food-ecosystems"

Strengthening technical capacity and regional cooperation on transboundary water resources management in Central Asia to enhance stability, economic prosperity and healthy ecosystems will be discussed at interdepartmental consultations on the topic "Nexus: Water–energy– Food–Ecosystems interaction". The meeting will be held in Ashgabat at the Archabil Hotel in the capital on February 8-9, 2023.

The event is organized by the WAVE Regional project on water resources and the environment and the Kazakh-German University (KGU), which in 2021 commenced the implementation of a joint program "Training of government officials of Central Asian countries to promote the assessment of the relationship of water-energy-food-ecosystem resources".

Trainings on this topic have already taken place in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The participants were specialists and employees of various government departments dealing with water management issues.

At the Ashgabat interdepartmental consultations, the project experts will familiarize representatives of relevant ministries and departments, as well as the USAID mission in Turkmenistan with the methodology for assessing the relationship between water, energy, food and ecosystem resources.
