 A monument to the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly is preparing to open in St. Petersburg

The opening of a monument to the Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi in the historical center of St. Petersburg will be one of the landmark events in the program of major international forums and festive events upcoming this year on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly.

They also include a conference of ministers of culture, scheduled for May 17-18, and a forum of heads of state and government, scheduled for October 11. An important event will be the opening in Ashgabat of the grand Magtymguly monument and the historical and cultural complex, in which monuments to outstanding foreign poets and thinkers will also be erected.

In addition to the opening of the monument to Magtymguly Fragi in St. Petersburg, international scientific conferences and round tables will also be held in Russia dedicated to the anniversary, in particular in Moscow, Kazan, Astrakhan and Voronezh and other cities, according to the website of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation.

Last week, the Turkmen diplomatic mission held a presentation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s first book, “Youth is the Support of the Motherland,” in St. Petersburg with the participation of representatives of Turkmen students studying at universities in the northern capital of Russia.

At the meeting, special attention was also paid to the extensive work to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly in 2024.
