 Turkmen-Russian inter-ministerial political consultations were held in Ashgabat

The next round of Turkmen-Russian political consultations was held in Ashgabat on Friday, March 1. The delegations were headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmed Gurbanov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin.

An exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of interstate dialogue. The progressive dynamics of bilateral friendly and trusting relations of a strategic nature was noted.

In particular, the parties discussed Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the field of security and countering new threats both in a bilateral format and on multilateral platforms, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia highly appreciated the peaceful foreign policy pursued by Turkmenistan, stressing the importance of Turkmen neutrality in strengthening peace and security in international processes.

The diplomats also exchanged views on topical aspects of international and regional policy. In this regard, attention was paid to regional security, including issues of peace-building, economic recovery and political stability in Afghanistan.

The parties agreed to continue regular contacts between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Russia.
