 The OSCE Center in Ashgabat held a seminar on the implementation of a methane emission control system

The implementation of a methane emission control system was the focus of a seminar organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat on April 11 and 12, 2024. The event was aimed at sharing international best practices in the field of carbon credit trading and familiarization with government measures aimed at regulating methane emissions.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the state concerns Turkmengaz, Turkmennebit and Turkmengeologiya, as well as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and other competent authorities.

The international expert spoke about the state policy on regulating and reducing methane emissions, the quota trading scheme in the OSCE region and the preparation of inventory reports.

As the acting head of the Economic and Environmental Department of the Center noted.William Leaf, the seminar was organized within the framework of the OSCE Center's activities to support the Government of Turkmenistan in promoting environmental safety, contributing to the country's efforts to reduce methane emissions within the framework of the Global Methane Commitment.
