Turkmenistan drew attention to the significance of the TAPI project at the OSCE forum in Prague
16.09.2024 | 23:35 |A delegation from Turkmenistan participated in the 31st OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum, which was held in Prague last week, 12-13 September. The Forum, entitled “Strengthening Security and Stability in the OSCE Region through Digital Innovation, Promoting Sustainable Development, and Adaptation to Climate Change”, brought together representatives of OSCE participating States, international organizations, and experts to discuss pressing issues related to economic development, digital transformation and climate change.
The Turkmen delegation, headed by Ambassador to Vienna Hemra Amannazarov, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OSCE, reaffirmed the country's commitment to the consolidated solution of global economic and environmental problems, adaptation to climate change and sustainable development, digital innovations, the website of the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Austria reported.
The Ambassador emphasized Turkmenistan's efforts to develop digitization processes and "smart city" infrastructure, noting the practical implementation of the new city of Arkadag project, which represents a key national initiative in the field of modern urban development and digital innovations.
The significance of several recently launched key infrastructure projects was also highlighted, primarily focused on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, aimed at strengthening energy security and economic cooperation in the region.
During the OSCE Forum, Turkmenistan reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation, especially in the areas of water resources management and water diplomacy, sustainability of energy infrastructure, and agricultural practices.
In the area of digital innovation, the delegation expressed gratitude to the OSCE Secretariat for its support in promoting Turkmenistan's national digitization plan, which includes projects aimed at modernizing public services, improving digital infrastructure, and stimulating innovation in the economy.
The role of the country's positive neutrality status, committed to strengthening peace and security in the OSCE region, was particularly emphasized.
The 31st OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum provided a platform for participating states for constructive dialogue, exchange of best practices, and development of concrete solutions to enhance regional security through economic and environmental cooperation.
