In the Indian state of Gujarat, the first private factory for manufacturing military transport aircraft C-295 has been opened, reports Bloomberg.

The new factory, built in partnership with Airbus SE and Tata Advanced Systems, will specialize in the production of transport aircraft to replace the aging fleet of the Indian army.

According to the contract, India will receive 56 C-295 aircraft, 16 of which will be manufactured in Spain, while the rest will be produced at the Indian factory.

The first aircraft will begin delivery in 2026, with the final batch expected in August 2031.

This project also involves Indian state-owned companies, such as Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd., which will be responsible for manufacturing components for the aircraft.

The C-295 aircraft can carry up to 71 soldiers or 9 tons of cargo.
