The new "Oscar" rules have permitted the use of AI in cinema

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has introduced changes to the regulations for film selection for the prestigious "Oscar" award.

The new amendments permit the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in filmmaking. Simultaneously, the statement clarifies that generative artificial intelligence and other digital tools neither enhance nor diminish the likelihood of a nomination. The pivotal factor will remain the human contribution to the creation of the cinematic work.

Another innovation involves the requirement for jury members to have viewed all films within a given category to be eligible to vote in the final round. Previously, jury members were simply requested to abstain from voting if they had not seen all the nominees.

Access to the ballot will be granted upon electors demonstrating proof of film viewing. This will be monitored through a dedicated application, the Academy Screening Room.
