 A Code of Intellectual Property presented for CIS countries

At a conference held on April 23, 2025, at the Saint Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television, a Code of Intellectual Property for the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was presented. This event was timed to coincide with World Intellectual Property Day, which is celebrated on April 26th.

The conference was part of the VI International Forum "Intellectual Property for the Future".

Igor Minin, Secretary of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism, and Sports, participated in the discussion of pressing issues in copyright regulation. He spoke about the new edition of the Code, adopted in November 2024, which expands the possibilities of national legislation in the field of intellectual property.

The document clarifies the types of intellectual property objects, the conditions for their legal protection, and the subjects of intellectual property rights. The list of legally protected objects also includes the results of computer systems and artificial intelligence, which are gaining social recognition.

Issues of copyright in creative industries, the free use of works, and the legal protection of intellectual products of project activities were also discussed at the conference.
