Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Washington on May 27 as part of his working visit to the United States. During the meeting, the diplomats conducted a comprehensive review of the current state of interstate dialogue and discussed in detail the long-term prospects for developing Turkmen-American cooperation in the political, trade, economic, educational, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

The two sides expressed deep satisfaction with the historic significance of the successful C5+1 summit in Washington last November, as well as the bilateral meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the United States, which gave new impetus to the development of relations between the two countries.

The diplomats placed particular emphasis on intensifying trade and economic partnerships and elevating investment cooperation to a qualitatively new level. In this context, the parties praised the significant practical results of this year's visit by National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the United States, during which a powerful signal was sent to American senior management about Ashgabat's readiness to implement large-scale joint projects.

A logical follow-up to these agreements will be preparations for the upcoming visit of a prestigious delegation from the US-Turkmenistan Business Council to Ashgabat. Furthermore, Rashid Meredov and Christopher Landau agreed on the agenda and dates for the next round of annual bilateral consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan in the capital of Turkmenistan.

Following the talks, the parties reaffirmed their firm commitment to continuing regular and trusting dialogue aimed at comprehensively strengthening the mutually beneficial partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States of America.
