Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Paid a Working Visit to Tehran


On July 3, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The head of the Turkmen delegation was met at Mehrabad International Airport by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the Saadabad Government Complex. The Iranian leader emphasized that Tehran prioritizes strengthening its multi-faceted partnership with neighboring Turkmenistan and expressed confidence that this visit will give a powerful impetus to bilateral dialogue. The parties confirmed their readiness to elevate trade, economic, and humanitarian ties to a qualitatively new level.
During the visit, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty also met with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The two leaders highlighted interparliamentary interaction as one of the key instruments of political and diplomatic cooperation and agreed to intensify the work of interparliamentary friendship groups.
Following the meetings, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave an interview to the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB).
A key part of the visit was the National Leader of the Turkmen people's visit to the Imam Khomeini Mosque, where a farewell ceremony for the late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, was held.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov honored the memory of the late leader and offered prayers. On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as on his own behalf and on behalf of the entire Turkmen people, the head of the Khalk Maslakhaty expressed sincere condolences and profound support to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the entire Iranian people during this tragic time, after which he signed a special book of condolences.
Following the conclusion of the visit, the National Leader of the Turkmen People returned to Ashgabat.
