Legendary British naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough has officially been named the oldest Emmy Award nominee in history. The 78th annual awards ceremony in Los Angeles announced the nominations, with the 100-year-old nominee vying for victory in two categories.
Sir David, who celebrated his 100th birthday in May of this year, is nominated for the award for Best Voice-Over Performance. The American Television Academy recognized his outstanding work in two new projects: the Netflix documentary "Gorilla's Tale" and the National Geographic film "Ocean." With this achievement, Attenborough broke the previous age record for the award, which belonged to the famous American producer Norman Lear, who received a nomination at the age of 99 years and 11 months.
In the new award race, the centenarian naturalist will be competing against himself, among other things.
