New UN Resident Coordinator Xiaojun Wang Has Assumed Her Duties in Turkmenistan
ASHGABAT, July 20 | ORIENT. Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov received the newly appointed United Nations Resident Coordinator in the country, Xiaojun Wang. The Foreign Minister congratulated the diplomat on her appointment and wished her success in her work.
At the opening meeting, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation for the near future. The focus was on the implementation of the new Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030, the preparation of the Voluntary National Review on the SDGs, and the ongoing work of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council.
Xiaojun Wang and Rashid Meredov confirmed their readiness to launch new joint projects that reflect the country's national priorities and global sustainable development objectives. The diplomats placed particular emphasis on promoting Turkmenistan's international initiatives at the UN, including the practical implementation of the Avaza Political Declaration and the Avaza Action Plan for 2024–2034, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website.
