New Commercial Flow of Sulfur-Free Gas at Mary Region Field
OIL AND GAS, July 20 | ORIENT. A commercial flow of environmentally friendly methane gas has been recorded at production well No. 04 at the Mary Region gas field. The well was drilled to a depth of 2,916 meters, and hydrocarbons are being produced from formations between 2,858 and 2,860 meters.
The flow rate of the newly commissioned well exceeds 700,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day. The main advantage of this raw material is the absence of sulfur impurities, making it a valuable product for industrial processing and export. Specialists are currently working to increase the facility's production capacity, TDH reports.
The successful commissioning of the well reflects the overall growth of the industry: in the first six months of 2026, Turkmenistan has already produced over 39.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The expansion of the resource base is proceeding in parallel with the technical retooling of the fuel and energy sector. Specifically, the Turkmengas State Concern will purchase specialized equipment from the German company VIETZ GmbH to modernize production infrastructure.
The development of fields in the Mary region plays a key role in ensuring international energy security. The Galkynysh supergiant remains the flagship of this process, where the fourth stage of industrial development was officially launched in the spring of 2026 with the participation of the top leadership of Turkmenistan and China.
