Kristin Hawkins has been appointed as the new Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Turkmenistan. She succeeds Elizabeth Rood, who had served as U.S. Ambassador since July 2024 and has completed her diplomatic mission.

The U.S. Embassy thanked Ms. Rood for her efforts to strengthen U.S.–Turkmenistan relations and reaffirmed the United States' commitment to continuing active and multifaceted cooperation with Turkmenistan.
