Turkmenistan Leads CIS Countries in Growth Rate of Exchange Trade with Belarus

BUSINESS, July 23 | ORIENT. In the first half of 2026, Turkmenistan demonstrated the highest growth rate in exchange trade turnover with the Republic of Belarus among all CIS countries. This figure reached 360% compared to the same period of the last year, securing the country a solid first place among the top three CIS countries.

The data was announced by Alexander Bashliy, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), at a meeting with the CIS diplomatic corps in Minsk, organized with the support of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI). By comparison, Kazakhstan demonstrated growth of 139%, and Tajikistan-308%.

The exchange trading vector between Turkmenistan and Belarus is rapidly expanding amid the overall digitalization of cross-border transactions and the involvement of new business participants. Overall, the CIS market accounts for almost 70% of all exports sold through BUCE.

Key commodity items in highest demand among regional traders include powdered milk, butter, lumber, meat products, flax fiber, and rapeseed oil.

Representatives of the Belarusian Exchange and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed their readiness to provide diplomatic missions and businesses with maximum assistance in matters of accreditation, confirmation of origin, and the application of protective mechanisms for mutual settlements.
