Vepa Khadzhiev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, addressed the high-level open debate of the UN Security Council. The main topic of the meeting was the responsible management of natural resources as a key factor in maintaining international peace, security, and prosperity.

In his address to the Security Council members, the Permanent Representative emphasized that Ashgabat consistently views resource potential not as a subject of interstate disputes, but as a foundation for sustainable development and expanded regional integration.

The key substantive points of the speech were

The Institutional Legacy of Preventive Diplomacy: Turkmenistan's initiatives in energy and transport connectivity, water security, and the environment have already been enshrined in 32 UN General Assembly resolutions adopted at Ashgabat's suggestion.

Internal Continuity of Policy: The Community of Nations was informed that the recent meeting of the Presidium of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan once again confirmed the immutability of the country's peace-loving foreign policy.

Bid for 2031–2032: In the context of its promoted philosophy of peace and trust, Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to make a practical contribution to the work of a key UN body by nominating its candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the period 2031–2032.

The statement at UN Headquarters demonstrated Turkmenistan's growing role in shaping the contemporary global agenda in the areas of climate and resource diplomacy.
