Talks Between the Co-Chairs of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission Were Held in Ashgabat
A meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on July 27.
The talks were chaired by Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Farzaneh Sadegh Malwajerd.
The diplomats discussed the current state and future directions of the bilateral partnership, as well as interaction within international organizations, primarily the United Nations. During the conversation, the traditional role of the principles of good-neighborliness and mutual respect in relations between the two countries was particularly emphasized.
The Iranian side congratulated Turkmenistan on the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the Ashgabat-initiated resolution "Year of International Law, 2028," which Iran also co-sponsored.
The negotiators paid special attention to trade and economic issues and measures to improve the effectiveness of the Intergovernmental Commission. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their commitment to consistently deepening intergovernmental dialogue across the full range of areas of mutual interest.
