From August 11 to 13, a specialized training seminar on the identification and classification of strategic goods was held in Ashgabat. Employees of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, participated in the training.

The course was initiated and organized by the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) as part of the European Union's P2P program.

The intensive training was conducted by leading European experts from Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and Lithuania, with extensive experience in international customs services.

The main objective of the seminar was to develop practical skills in accurately classifying cargo in accordance with the international Harmonized System (HS). The focus of the European and Turkmen specialists was on sensitive materials: chemical, biological, nuclear, and radioactive components; industrial and high-tech equipment, including complex machinery and instrumentation that may be classified as dual-use goods; and military and special-purpose products.

The implementation of advanced European inspection and identification methods will enable Turkmen relevant agencies to even more effectively prevent the illegal trafficking of sensitive goods.

This event was another practical step toward increasing the transparency of international trade flows through Turkmenistan, ensuring regional security, and deepening the partnership between Ashgabat and the European Union.
