Since August 2026, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan have launched a regular electronic exchange of preliminary information on goods and vehicles being transported. The digital interaction between the two countries' information systems is organized based on the existing interdepartmental agreement and agreed-upon technical specifications.

A key feature of the new format is that customs authorities receive comprehensive information on cargo before its actual arrival at checkpoints. This allows agencies to conduct preliminary data analysis in advance and significantly expedite subsequent control procedures at the border.

For foreign trade participants and transport companies, the implementation of this mechanism offers direct practical benefits. These include minimizing border crossing times, streamlining paperwork, increasing the predictability of deliveries, and improving the reliability of bilateral trade statistics. This step toward digitalizing customs services is intended to reduce business costs and strengthen transit and logistics potential along the Turkmen-Kazakh border.
