Scientists have made an important historical discovery in the Kamashi district of Kashkadarya Region. At the Boburtepa archaeological site, they uncovered the remains of an ancient structure featuring a unique wall painting dating back to the 4th–5th centuries AD, reports Yuz.uz.

On the clay plaster of one of the rooms, archaeologists uncovered an ornament depicting tulips and white flowers, complemented by red wavy lines. The painting survived to the present day because, at a later period, it was carefully covered with a layer of white lime plaster.

The monumental thickness of the walls and the preserved decorative elements led specialists to suggest that the building may have served as an ancient cult or religious center.

Excavations at the site are being conducted by Sanjar Abdurakhimov, a researcher at the Institute of Archaeology of the Samarkand Branch. Further research will help scientists determine the exact purpose of the complex, study the details of its architecture, and reconstruct the historical appearance of the region.
