CIS Foreign Ministers will meet in Avaza


The next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held on October 7 in the National Tourist Zone of Avaza in Turkmenistan.
This was announced by Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, at a briefing on September 30, AZERTAC reports.
During the meeting, the heads of foreign ministries will review preliminary results of the CIS’s work in 2026 and discuss further areas of multilateral cooperation. Particular attention is expected to be paid to the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth, which is being marked this year.
The participants are also expected to approve a plan for inter-ministerial consultations for 2027 and determine the date and venue of the next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.
Most of the documents agreed upon following the meeting are planned to be submitted for consideration by the Council of Heads of State of the CIS. Its meeting will also be held in Avaza on October 9.
