Turkmen Parliamentarians Participated in Global Forums in Andorra and Tanzania

Delegations from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan actively participated in major international parliamentary forums: the Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the Principality of Andorra and the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in the United Republic of Tanzania. The extensive engagement of national legislators in global dialogue reaffirms Turkmenistan’s consistent commitment to strengthening multilateral diplomacy, peace, and inclusive development.

At the OSCE PA conference in Andorra la Vella—held under the theme of seeking collective responses to emerging challenges—Turkmen MPs joined colleagues from across the OSCE region to discuss key aspects of the contemporary agenda. Participants focused on strengthening energy sovereignty, promoting multilateral approaches to foster trust and security, and protecting human rights in the digital age, including addressing cyber threats and the ethics of artificial intelligence.
At the same time, in Arusha (Tanzania), representatives of the Mejlis participated in the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which focused on developing legislative strategies to protect the rights and empower persons with disabilities.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, the Turkmen delegation took part in discussions regarding legal mechanisms for inclusive social development and the strengthening of peace, as well as the adoption of the IPU’s three-year work plan. A significant aspect of the visit was the delegation’s participation in the elections for the IPU’s governing bodies, demonstrating Turkmenistan’s high level of integration into international democratic and institutional processes.
The participation of Turkmen parliamentarians in OSCE and IPU forums made it possible not only to showcase national legislative experience but also to reinforce the Mejlis’s status as an active participant in the global dialogue on ensuring legal protection, energy security, and social justice.
