The Board of JSC “Russian Railways” has decided to introduce a 30% discount on the transit of mineral fertilizers from Turkmenistan, reported TASS news agency. The discount period will start from 1 August up to 31 December 2017 and will be applied on the transportation of mineral fertilizers from Turkmenistan in a private car (not belonging to the carrier) to destinations in third countries by transit through Russian and Ukrainian ports, as well as to CIS countries. The same discount will be extended for the transit of fertilizers in a private car from third countries via Russian ports to Turkmenistan. The abundant raw materials allows Turkmenistan to join ranks of the major producers of mineral fertilizers. In March 2017, the country commissioned the largest in Central Asia, Garlyk ore-dressing complex, with a capacity of 1.4 million tons of potash fertilizers and other products per year. With a view to export prospects, Turkmenistan is actively developing transport infrastructure in order to supply potash fertilizers from Garlyk to clients in any direction. The construction of the Garabogaz plant for the production of mineral fertilizers on the coast of the Caspian Sea is ongoing in full swing. The future industrial giant with annual output of 1.155 million tons of urea will significantly increase the capacity of the chemical industry of Turkmenistan and enhance its export potential.
