Central Asian market is desired destination for Kenyan exporters

Kenya is going to focus efforts on expanding exports to the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan. Peter Bivott, executive director of the Export Promotion Council said at a briefing in Nairobi that Kenya will take advantage from the EXPO 2017 in Astana in bringing its export potential to attention of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Moreover, according to principal secretary of trade ministry Chris Kiptoo, the marketing analysis will be undertaken during EXPO in order to assess opportunities for country’s agricultural production at regional markets. The Kenyan days at the international specialized exhibition will be held from 28 August to 1 September. East African nation will showcase achievements in the field of geothermal and solar energy. Kenya ranks third in the world's top ten tea exporters and producers. Regarding Asian region, Kenyan tea is actively imported by Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. The country produces over 400 thousand tons of black, green, yellow and white tea annually, which makes about 19% of world production.
