Switzerland plans to install solar panels inside the railway

Swiss startup Sun-Ways plans to implement a project to install solar panels on railway tracks. 60 panels between the rails will be placed in the area of Butte Station on a plot of 46.2 meters.
The laying process is fully automated thanks to a special train consisting of two cars. One of them will store panels, and the other will stack them. It should be noted that, if necessary, the same train is able to dismantle the panels.
At the first stage, all the electricity generated will be consumed by local households, and in the future part of it will be sent to electric trains.
According to Batista Daniherta, co-founder of Sun-Ways, if the project is successfully implemented, it will be possible to meet the energy needs of 750 thousand households. Since after covering the entire 5000-kilometer network with panels, up to 1 gigawatt of energy per year will be produced.
The project worth $560 thousand dollars is planned to be completed during the summer.
In the process of implementing the project, Sun-Ways engineers will have to solve a number of technical problems. This is the contamination of the panels by passing trains and the long distances from the panels to the points of connection to the network.
