"Ahal" - "Shagadam": the champions missed the victory in the match with an outsider
In the match of the 14th round of the highest league of Turkmenistan on football "Ahal" tied with the Turkmenbashi "Shagadam" - 2:2.
In parallel with the dramatic metropolitan derby, which took place in Buzmein, where by the 70th minute "Altyn Asyr" smashed "Kopetdag" with a score of 4: 1, another bright event was offered to Turkmen fans - "Ahal" - "Shagadam".
The wards of Serdar Geldiyev went to this game with additional motivation - the team had won two victories before this match. First, "Altyn Asyr" was defeated (2:1), and then "Akhal" dealt with "Kopetdag" (3:1). At first glance, it should seem that the duel with the outsider of the tournament "Shagadam" should seem like an easy rolling for the champions. This is evidenced by an instant attempt to take the ball under control.
The first 20 minutes seaside footballers defended quite confidently. And the blows of the players of "Ahal", albeit not without difficulty, were reflected by the goalkeeper of "Shagadam". However, in the 31st minute, a combination well played by the players from Anau allowed them to open the scoring in the match. Elman Tagaev, having received a pass from the right flank and struck at the goal - the ball turned out to be unstoppable for the goalkeeper.
The scored goal only provoked the hosts. Attacks on the gates of "Shagadam" rolled one by one, but the attackers each time lacked accuracy in the final stage. In turn, the guests in the creation did not work out almost nothing. Several good breakthroughs in the performance of the seaside forwards ended in nothing.
However, at the end of the first segment of the meeting, a counterattack from the side of "Shagadam" made it possible to win back the missed goal. Ikhlas Makhtymov received a pass from his half of the field and carried the ball at speed to the penalty area.
Once there, the forward just hit the bottom right corner. Rakhat Dzhaparov, who played the second match in the "Ahal", failed to cope with the blow. It is appropriate to note here that Azat Garadzhaev's wards scored the first goal since May of this year.
The second half began with a storm of positive emotions in the stands. 10 minutes after the start of the second segment of the match, "Ahal" finally put the squeeze on "Shagadam" and took the lead again. Yazgylych Gurbanov, bypassing the defenders of "Shagadam", entered the opponent's penalty area and shot into the near corner of the goal. The goalkeeper did not expect a blow there, and simply did not have time to group.
After that, the team of Serdar Geldiyev continued to attack by inertia, and "Shagadam" had to urgently change something. The substitutions made by Azat Garadzhaev freshened up the game of the seaside club a little. But with shots on target, the guests still did not go well. The ball stubbornly did not even reach the hands of Rakhat Dzhaparov.
Nevertheless, the players from Turkmenbashi did not lose hope to save the game. But their attempts to create danger at the gates of "Ahal" looked more like a poorly organized chaos than a semblance of a decisive assault.
In turn, the home team methodically defended themselves, not releasing their opponents into positions from which, at least theoretically, it is possible to deliver an aimed and powerful blow.
Yes, the advantage of Serdar Geldiyev's wards in terms of score was shaky, but in general it was clear that only some kind of miracle could help “Shagadam” to record one point in the standings.
And it happened in the 70th minute. Pirmurad Sultanov, with his accurate shot, brought the deaside club a draw, which, by and large, they did not deserve. 2:2 - "Ahal" loses the first points in the second round of the championship of Turkmenistan on football.
