Turkmen delegation took part in a meeting on maternal health in Central Asia

The delegation of Turkmenistan, together with specialists from other countries of Central Asia, took part in a technical meeting on the exchange of experience in the field of maternal health. This was reported by the representative office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan.
The meeting, which took place in Almaty, aimed to develop partnerships in this area by drawing on best practices and experience in improving maternal health services in order to identify areas where further UNFPA technical support and South- South cooperation could be most beneficial. The event was organized with the support of the United Nations Population Fund.
In 2015, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Children's Fund established the Regional Interagency Group on Quality Assurance in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Care. South-South cooperation is a process of mutual exchange among the countries of the global South of knowledge, experience and best practices to address major development challenges in this area.
