Turkmen athletes will train for the World Kurash Championship in the city of Arkadag
Turkmen kurash wrestlers will train in the city of Arkadag ahead of the 14th world championship in this sport, which will be held in Ashgabat from 23 to 28 November 2023. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a working trip to the city of state importance on Saturday, instructed the relevant leaders to create all the conditions for Turkmen athletes who will be preparing for the championship.
In April, representatives of Turkmenistan and the International Kurash Association (IKA) signed an agreement to hold the world championship in Ashgabat.
About 500 wrestlers from over 100 countries will compete at the 2023 World Kurash Championship. The venue for the competition will be the martial arts complex of the Olympic village of Ashgabat.
From Turkmenistan, 15 athletes (7 men and 8 women) will take part in the world championship in kurash.
Last year, at the World Championships in India, Turkmen kurash wrestlers won three awards: one silver and two bronze.
