Measures to create a joint logistics company within the Trans-Caspian corridor, as well as the construction of warehouse infrastructure and logistics centers in the ports of Baku and third countries were discussed by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at talks on Tuesday.

The leaders of the two countries called the development of cooperation in the field of transport and transit strategically important. It was noted that last year the volume of Uzbek cargo transportation through the port of Baku increased almost twice. Uzbekistan intends to further increase cargo transportation using the modern transport network of Azerbaijan, the message on the website of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan says.

On the eve of Mirziyoyev's state visit to Azerbaijan, a business forum was held in Baku on August 21 with the participation of heads of key ministries and departments, as well as over 250 representatives of leading companies of the two countries.

During the forum, it was stated that the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 6 times by the end of 2022, and by another 40% since the beginning of this year. The heads of state set a task to bring the figure to $ 1 billion in the coming years.

Specific proposals were announced for the organization of joint productions for the production of metal products, pharmaceutical products, household appliances and construction materials, including with the assistance of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani Investment Company.

As a result of the forum, a solid package of trade contracts and investment agreements was signed. One of the main documents signed at the forum was an agreement between Uzbekneftegaz and SOCAR. The Azerbaijani oil and gas company intends to take part in projects on the territory of Uzbekistan.
