In September, an international team of archaeologists will resume excavations in the territory of ancient Margush, one of the most ancient and mysterious civilizations in the world. This was reported on the page of the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan in social networks.

Work in the Togolok-1 complex will be carried out by a team of researchers from the International Association for Mediterranean and Oriental Studies (Rome), as well as the Free University of Berlin and the University of Bologna.

Archaeologists will conduct excavations in the historical complex, which consists of more than 30 monuments and settlements, each of which has been assigned a number. According to scientists, the flourishing of socio-economic life in the Togolok oasis, located in the Murgab valley, lasted between 2400 and 1950 BC. Later, the flow of water in the Murgab River decreased, and settled farmers left a significant part of the territory.
