In China, the production of electricity without the use of fossil fuels has increased

China continues to increase the production of electricity from environmentally friendly sources such as wind, solar and water. This follows from the report of the Chinese Institute of Electric Power Planning and Design.
According to the report, in 2022 China generated 762.4 billion kWh of electricity from wind, which is 16.3 percent more than in the previous year. China also significantly increased the production of photovoltaic energy, which amounted to 425.1 billion kWh, which is 30.4 percent more than in 2022.
In addition, China has optimized the structure of its power sources, reducing the share of coal-fired power plants to 43.8 percent. and by increasing the share of non-fossil energy sources to 49.6 percent. of the total installed capacity. As a result, the share of electricity produced without the use of fossil fuels reached 36.2 percent. of the total electricity production in the country, which amounted to 8.7 trillion kWh.
These measures are aimed at promoting "green" and low-carbon energy in China, which contributes to strengthening national security, the development of science and technology, as well as increasing China's international prestige.
The report also notes that China has made significant progress in the development of hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic energy. In 2022, the installed capacity of each of these types of energy exceeded 300 million kW.
