USAID cooperates with the Mejlis to strengthen parliamentary capacity and lawmaking procedures. In October, the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan supported a study tour for six representatives of the Mejlis to explore e-government and e-parliament systems in the United States.

Previously, USAID collaborated with the Mejlis to develop guidelines on the legal framework and lawmaking techniques for Turkmen deputies. In addition, seminars on effective parliamentary diplomacy and key aspects of legal activity were held to promote the work of Turkmen legislators.

These joint efforts demonstrate USAID's support of Turkmenistan to advance governance practices and build a robust parliamentary system in the country.

The USAID-funded Governance Support Program, implemented by Q2 Impact (formerly The QED Group, LLC) in partnership with the Government of Turkmenistan, aims to strengthen accountability, effectiveness, and transparency of governance in the country.
