The concept of “20-minute city” was presented

At the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), which ended in Dubai, the concept of the “20-minute city” was presented.
The project by global design and architecture firm Gensler aims to reduce the human impact on the environment by encouraging walking, cycling and the use of public transport instead of long journeys in private cars.
To achieve this, streets with wider sidewalks and allocated bicycle lanes will be built.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, we found that every city resident preferred to visit establishments that were located within a 20-minute radius,” company spokesman Andy Cohen said, emphasizing that the 20-minute city concept will become the norm in the future.
Public transportation in these cities will resemble a service like Uber, where people can get into a car and hit the road, but without any parking areas.
"Within the next 5 to 10 years, we can reclaim our city streets for people, not cars," Cohen said.
