Egypt's current President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has been re-elected for a third term


Egypt's current president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has been re-elected for a third consecutive term, Euronews reports.
According to the National Election Commission, 89.6% of voters voted for him. The second place was taken by the head of the Republican People's Party, Hazem Omar, who received 4.5% of the vote.
The voter turnout was 66.8%.
The head of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, Farid Zahran, and the chairman of the Wafd party, Abdel Sanad Yamama, also claimed the post of head of Egypt.
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who used to head the ministry, has been President of Egypt since 2014. In 2018, he was re-elected with 97% of the vote.
Amendments to the Constitution, which were adopted in the country in 2019, allowed al-Sisi to extend his term from four to six years. In addition, they gave him the opportunity to participate in the new presidential elections.
