On Saturday, the collection of signatures for Vladimir Putin’s candidacy in the Russian presidential elections began. This was reported at the candidate's election headquarters.

According to the co-chair of the election headquarters, chief physician of Moscow City Hospital No. 52, Hero of Labor Maryana Lysenko, the collection will last until the end of January.

Specially trained volunteers will collect signatures in their regions. Lawyers for Putin's campaign told them about possible violations that could arise during the collection of signatures.

The Presidential Movement will organize a gathering in all 89 regions of Russia, where headquarters will work even on weekends. According to the head of the executive committee of the Popular Front, Mikhail Kuznetsov, for the convenience of citizens who want to sign for Putin, a schedule for accepting signatures and contact details of headquarters will be published on social networks to avoid queues.

In total, over a thousand movement volunteers will participate in the gathering.

"United Russia" will also collect signatures in support of Putin. Thus, as the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Party, Alexander Sidyakin said, the entire infrastructure of the Party in the regions will be used, and training for signature collectors will also be organized.

Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted documents to the country's Central Election Commission to nominate his candidacy for the post of president through self-nomination on December 18.

According to the law, a self-nominated candidate in presidential elections must collect at least 300 thousand voter signatures in his support, so that each subject of the Russian Federation has at least 7.5 thousand signatures living on its territory.

Signatures in support of the candidate must be submitted to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation from December 27 to January 31. After this, the Central Election Commission will check them, consider all the documents and, within 10 days, make a decision on whether to register the candidate for the elections or to refuse it.

The Russian presidential elections will be held on March 17 next year.
