BRICS has been replenished with five new participants

On the first day of the new year 2024, the BRICS interstate association was officially replenished with five participants at once. The new members are Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Ethiopia.

These countries received an invitation to join the group in August last year.

Kostantinos Berkhoutesfa, a professor at the University of Addis Ababa, noted that BRICS investments will contribute to the development of Ethiopia.

This is the second expansion of the union – in 2010, South Africa joined the original participants – Brazil, Russia, India and China.
