The volume of U.S. government debt exceeded $34 trillion for the first time in history. This is reported by the website of the US Treasury Department.
As of Tuesday, the outstanding national debt of the States is $34.001 trillion.
The previous record of $33 trillion was set in September last year.
According to Bank of America, the US national debt will exceed the $50 trillion mark by 2033. This means that in the next ten years, the outstanding debt will grow by $5.2 billion daily.
The US government debt is the amount of debt owed by the federal government to creditors: they can be individuals, such as citizens or foreign investors, as well as states or large funds.
