42-year-old UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, who completed a six-month mission on the ISS, has been appointed the country's Minister of State for Youth Affairs.

Commenting on the appointment, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, described Al Neyadi as the person most familiar with youth issues and able to successfully promote the interests of the younger generation.

“The Sultan is an astronaut with a PhD, served his country in the military and space sector, served humanity in the scientific field and became the first Arab to walk in outer space and spend 6 months in Earth orbit,” the UAE vice president wrote.

At the same time, Sultan Al Neyadi will continue his space exploration activities.
