Aeroflot airline's new landing scheme will save fuel and time
The Russian airline “Aeroflot” and the State Air Navigation Corporation, which is the national provider of air navigation services, have begun to implement new aircraft landing patterns. This was reported by The Moscow Times, citing the words of company representatives.
The new landing method will allow the carrier to save five minutes of flight time and on fuel. According to calculations, by the end of the year, fuel savings will amount to more than 18.6 thousand tons for “Aeroflot”, 7.4 thousand tons for “Rossiya”, and 5.6 thousand tons for the low-cost carrier “Pobeda”.
This will lead to a reduction in the negative impact of the carbon footprint on the environment.
A new method of landing aircraft has been used in the Moscow air zone since March 21.
As commented in the Federal Air Transport Agency, the introduced routes allow airlines to carry out fuel calculations, thereby reducing the costs of flights. Previously, fuel calculation routes were introduced at the Pulkovo airfield on the initiative of the airline based there for fuel consumption at the carrier's flight planning stage.
