Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was invited to visit Turkmenistan
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Japan Atadurdy Bayramov took part in a festive iftar dinner in Tokyo, hosted by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who invited the heads of foreign diplomatic missions.
As part of the event, which took place on April 1, Ambassador Bayramov held a conversation with the Prime Minister of Japan, conveying warm greetings from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and an invitation to visit Turkmenistan at a time convenient for him.
Currently, Turkmenistan and Japan are actively developing bilateral relations, as evidenced by the visits of high-ranking delegations of Turkmenistan to Japan in January-March 2024, in particular, headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, Chairman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova and Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan by Begench Gochmollaev.
As a result of these visits, Turkmen delegations held productive meetings with high-ranking representatives of the public and private sectors of Japan. In the first quarter of 2024 alone, 8 intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements were signed aimed at further strengthening Turkmen-Japanese relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan noted. Japan has recently been paying great attention to developing relations with the countries of Central Asia. Last June, Fumio Kishida instructed the Japanese Foreign Ministry to work on launching a format for summit meetings with the heads of state of the Central Asian “five”. It is expected that regular summit meetings between Japan and Central Asian countries will begin in 2024.
In January 2024, Turkmenistan and Japan signed a memorandum of understanding that includes cooperation in the field of decarbonization.
