A post of press attaché will be established in the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan
At a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov presented proposals on strengthening information support of Turkmenistan's foreign policy activities. One of the key points was the establishment of the post of press attaché in a number of the country's diplomatic missions abroad.
According to the Foreign Minister, the new initiative is aimed at raising the world community's awareness of Turkmenistan's policies and achievements through modern tools of public diplomacy and information and communication technologies. This step is a continuation of the work of the Department of Foreign Policy Information and Digital Diplomacy, which began its activities in August this year.
The Press Attaché will become an important link in the communication system, his activities will focus on interaction with foreign media, dissemination of relevant information about Turkmenistan and promotion of international information exchange. This will strengthen the country's image in the international arena and support the strategic directions of foreign policy.
In addition, as part of the modernization of foreign policy information work, it was proposed to establish cooperation with the UN Department of Global Communications, as well as to conclude agreements with relevant foreign publications and accredit correspondents of the scientific and practical journal “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan”.
The President of Turkmenistan approved the proposals, highlighting the need for consistent introduction of modern methods in the information support of foreign policy activities and expansion of cooperation with international organizations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to intensify work in this direction.
This step demonstrates Turkmenistan's desire to strengthen its presence in the global information space, drawing attention to the country's status of neutrality and achievements, which is especially relevant in the context of the International Year of Peace and Trust, declared by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
