The expansion of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan in the field of higher education was the main topic of discussion during a meeting between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, Ahsan Wagan.

Highlighting the fruitful nature of existing cooperation based on agreements signed between higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and Pakistan, the parties outlined specific proposals for further expanding interaction in the field of education.

In particular, representatives from Pakistan were invited to events dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust 2025, declared by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan, as well as to the 30th anniversary of Neutrality of Turkmenistan.

A Pakistani university was invited to participate in the International Educational and Methodological Conference "Language is an Important Tool of Friendly Relations", which will be held in February 2025 at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The participation of schoolchildren from Pakistan in the II International Mathematical Olympiad, which will be held in Ashgabat from April 21st to 26th, 2025, was also discussed.

Furthermore, an initiative was put forward to establish cooperation between the S.A. Niyazov Agricultural University (Turkmenistan) and the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad (Pakistan) in the fields of agrarian economics and animal husbandry.

Ambassador Ahsan Wagan announced that Pakistani universities are ready to provide scholarship places for Turkmen students in the following fields: banking, railway transport, information technology, pharmaceuticals, and foreign language studies.

He also expressed a desire to conduct an "open lesson" for students of Turkmen universities to share his diplomatic experience.
