Tajikistan will commence construction on the longest bridge in Central Asia, a project of significant infrastructural importance to the nation.

An agreement for the construction has been formalized between the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the Chinese company Zhejiang Communications Construction Group Co. Ltd. The bridge itself will span 920 meters, with the total length, including approach roads, reaching 1500 meters, setting a new regional record. The bridge will be situated in the Nurabad district and will cross the Surkhob River.

This bridge construction is an integral component of the "Obigarm-Nurobod" highway project.

The overall project cost is estimated at approximately 427.5 million yuan (roughly 60 million US dollars), with a projected completion timeline of four years. The Minister of Transport of Tajikistan, Azim Ibrohim, has emphasized the project's strategic value to the national economy, stressing the necessity for both quality and timely execution.
